Cowboys’ special teams coach Joe DeCamillis has gone through a difficult year physically. DeCamillis experienced pain on Sunday and then was rushed to the hospital. He will not coach in Sunday’s game. DeCamillis’ status for the rest of the season is uncertain. The Cowboys leave for Dallas after the game and it’s not determined if DeCamillis will be on the team charter. Wes Phillips, head coach Wade Phillips’ son, will take over the special teams duties. Other coaches will also help Wes Phillips. What will it be for Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware on Sunday? A tackle with occasional pass-protection help from a tight end? A tackle and a tight end at all times? A tackle, a tight end and a running back “chip blocking” on Ware? Or all of the above? Familiarity works against Ware. Teams that face the Cowboys every few seasons often start out treating Ware like any other pass rusher on the edge. NFC East teams, which have felt his wrath twice a season, know better and look for creative ways to neutralize Ware. Dallas Cowboys Mens Apparel and other Cowboys Apparel
What we witnessed Sunday at Lambeau Field occasionally happens when you have a collection of role players at running back and receiver. This spread-the-ball-around offense and its Kumbaya-effect in the locker room is wonderful in theory because it keeps everyone happy since they’re involved in the offense. A lot of times, especially in today’s parity-driven NFL, you can win with that approach. Dallas Cowboys Sports Memorabilia It wouldn’t be wise to make any sweeping judgments on the Dallas Cowboys until their cruelest month arrives in December, but it’s fair to say they took an important step at the Linc on Sunday night. They returned to the site of one of the most regrettable performances in franchise history and seized control of first place in the NFC East with a 20-16 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. “We came out here and laid an egg,” said inside linebacker Bradie James of last December’s loss. “I won’t ever forget that, but we were able to put that behind us and move forward today. Ever since that Kansas City game [a 26-20 Dallas OT victory Oct. 11], it’s skyrocketed for us.” Dallas Cowboys Sports Memorabilia Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo can still escape a collapsing pocket with greater ease than the seemingly always swirling winds of controversy at Valley Ranch. On Wednesday, struggling receiver Roy Williams continued his weekly discourse into his and Romo’s bizarre disconnect. Speaking openly and not accusatorily, Williams said that Romo throws more accurately to his other receivers, one reason why Williams has just 14 catches in six games. On Thursday, Romo, instead of fielding questions about his three-game streak with eight touchdowns and no interceptions, his excellent judgment of late or the team’s evolving offensive diversity, defended Williams as a hard worker and someone who cares, and then got defensive, attempting to quash any notion of a rift. Dallas Cowboys Sports Memorabilia Admittedly, owner Jerry Jones has thrown good money after bad a lot in his Cowboy lifetime. He paid Joey Galloway, and T.O. a second time, and the other Roy Williams after almost everybody had discovered his issues in coverage. Yes, a lot of big-time, long-term money has been handed out to questionables at Valley Ranch in recent seasons. So when he handed DeMarcus Ware, what basically amounts to a check for $80 million with $40 mil guaranteed a couple of days ago, a little skepticism emerged. Had Owner Jones goofed again? Wade Phillips said that the Cowboys looked so crisp in practice Thursday before their bye weekend, they looked like they were preparing for a playoff game. Ba da boom! Oh, and I see where Phillips and Tiger Woods chatted about leadership recently. Talk about your one-sided conversations … Ba da boom! Hey! I’ve got a million of ’em, I’m here all week and don’t forget to tip your friendly waitresses on the way out. Dallas Cowboys Sports Memorabilia |
